FAQ
How should we prepare for our session?
Maternity: pick a time where you physically feel most comfortable! Some mama's want their bellies as big as possible, where others feel quite uncomfortable early on. Pick an outfit that feels like YOU! Dresses are always comfortable when we sport a baby bump, but if that's not who you are, do NOT dress that way! I ultimately want these photos to feel like YOU and your partner, and to put you in a frame of mind where you're basking in the time left of just the two of you! (I'm not crying, you're crying)
Newborn: This one also depends on how fresh you want your photos to be. Some parents want them as soon as possible after they are born, so they're as small as possible. Other parents want a few weeks to lean into it. Before I arrive for this session, All you need to do is prepare a few rooms (typically family room, nursery and master bedroom) are common areas. Do not panic if you don't want a certain room photographed! We'll stick with whatever areas you feel most confident, and where it is well lit with natural light :)
Family Photos
Family: Depending on the age of your children, this one can be a touch stressful on us moms! We can chat about best lighting times during the time of season we are in.. usually early morning light, or later afternoon light is the very best for those dreamy shots. Being a mama myself, I understand how important those naps and sleep schedules are, so I'm confident we can find a time slot that works with your little one's schedules! Snacks are always handy to have along, bug spray, and a dash of patience and grace.
VERY IMPORTANT -> I usually let the children lead the session. Okay, hear me out. All this means is, if the kiddos need a break and want to look at flowers or trees, that's what we'll do. If they want to show me the tractor or stuffed animal they've brought along, that's OKAY! Please don't stress that you won't get those "perfect" family photos without the soothers, or toys in the photo too. You know why? I promise you when you look back on these photos in 5 years, (or even next year) you won't feel anger or resentment that they've made the family portrait too. You'll most likely tear up and think, wow, that phase is now gone too. Ultimately, the less stressed you are, the less stressed they'll feel :)
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am based in Tillsonburg, Ontario and yes I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, I always try to find the cheapest way to come, or compromise on a middle ground location :)
When will we get our photos?
Typically, you can expect to receive your photos within 4 weeks. This can vary, depending on how busy I currently am, and time of year will play a role in this as well! At the end of your session, I always give you a timeline of when to expect your sneak peeks, and full gallery :)
How many pictures will we receive?
I never really limit my photos, however You can expect anywhere from 80-120 images!
I want this SO BAD... but we are SO awkward behind cameras, and the anxiety is high
believe me, I am too. I will give you plenty of guidance and prompts to make this hour one of the easiest, and FUN hour with your family! I will ask you tons of questions, and shift the focus on what's truly important... you and your people. Expect silly games, questions that will make you belly laugh, and bum pinches. Lots and lots of bum pinches. ;)
